The Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and to encourage and foster:

  • FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
  • FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Chartered in 1981, the Rotary Club of Bradley-Bourbonnais has served the Kankakee County Community in many ways for more than 36 years. It has also maintained the Rotary International Spirit of Service through National and International projects such as the elimination of Polio across the world.

Our Club strives to achieve our service goals and fundraisers in a spirit of fun, fellowship, and networking. Some of the local projects we have sponsored include working at and donating to local food pantries, purchase and installation of accessible playground equipment at Perry Farm, and the purchase and installation of waiting benches at Metro Bus Stops. Our Club also recognizes achievements in education through our annual lunch honoring select eighth-grade students at local schools and awarding an annual scholarship to a BBCHS graduate.

Internationally, we have purchased and deployed dozens of shelter box survival kits for areas impacted by natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes and hurricanes. We have hosted high school foreign exchange students for a full school year, and teams of business people from other countries showing them a week in the life of our community.

At our regular meetings, we are provided an opportunity to meet with area community, government and civic leaders, discuss topical events, and engage in active discussions with these leaders.
